Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how News Pepe ("we", "our", "the app")
collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and website at
https://newspepe.co.
1. Data We Collect
News Pepe collects the following data to provide you with a personalized news experience:
- Country and language preference: Used to deliver relevant news for your region.
Stored locally on your device.
- Device identifier (Advertising ID): Used by our ad partner (Google AdMob) to
show relevant ads. You can opt out via your device settings or when prompted.
- App usage data: Anonymous analytics (via Firebase) to improve the app
experience, including app opens, screen views, and crash reports.
We do NOT collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any other
personal information.
2. How We Use AI
News Pepe uses artificial intelligence to curate and summarize news articles from reliable published
sources. All articles displayed in the app are:
- Sourced from established news publishers (BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, etc.)
- Summarized by AI with factual accuracy as the priority
- Clearly labeled as "AI Summary" in the app
- Linked to the original source article for verification
AI summaries are generated server-side. Your personal data is NOT sent to AI providers. Only
published news articles are processed.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements. Google may collect device
identifiers for ad personalization. See

- Firebase (Google): For anonymous analytics, app performance monitoring,
authentication, and content delivery. See

- AI Providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google): For news curation only. No user data
is shared with these providers.
4. Data Retention
- News articles: Stored on our servers for 7 days, then automatically deleted.
- Your preferences (country, language, dark mode): Stored locally on your device
only. Deleted when you uninstall the app or use "Delete My Data".
- Analytics data: Retained for up to 14 months by Firebase, then automatically
deleted.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data under the following legal bases:
- Consent: For ad personalization and tracking (via ATT prompt on iOS and GDPR
consent dialog). You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.
- Legitimate interest: For anonymous analytics to improve the app, and for
delivering the core news service.
- Contractual necessity: For delivering news content based on your selected
country and language preferences.
6. Your Rights (GDPR — EU/EEA Residents)
If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:
- Access: Know what data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data via Settings > Delete My Data.
- Restriction: Limit how we process your data.
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Opt-out: Decline ad tracking when prompted, or change in device settings at any
time.
- Withdraw consent: You can withdraw consent for analytics and ads via your device
settings.

7. Your Rights (CCPA — California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know: Request what personal information we collect and why.
- Delete: Request deletion of your personal information.
- Opt-out: Opt out of the "sale" of personal information. News Pepe does not sell
your data, but ad networks may use identifiers for interest-based advertising, which may
constitute a "sale" under CCPA.
- Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your
rights.

"Delete My Data" option in the app.
8. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where our
service providers (Google/Firebase, AI providers) operate. These transfers are protected by Standard
Contractual Clauses and the providers' compliance frameworks.
9. App Tracking & Advertising
On iOS, we request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before any
tracking occurs. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy > Tracking.
On all platforms, we show a GDPR consent dialog before initializing personalized ads. You can opt out
of personalized ads through your device's ad settings.
10. Data Deletion
You can delete all locally stored data at any time:
- Open the app menu and select "Delete My Data"
- Or uninstall the app from your device

11. Children's Privacy
News Pepe is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data
from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us at
codewithfemi@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the app and on this
page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
